Jamie has been the Senior Pastor of East Pickens since July 2011. Jamie was born and raised in Pickens and at East Pickens. Before becoming the Senior Pastor he served as the Minister of Students and the Pastor of Young Families from 1997-2008. He returned to East Pickens after pastoring Good Hope Baptist Church in Iva, SC. Jamie enjoys running, hiking, all kinds of music, and Clemson sports. He has been married to Chrissy since 2000 and they have 3 children: Anna Beth, Sarah, and Brooke.
Rev. Allen Sherwood
Associate Pastor of Administration and Ministry Teams
Allen is passionate about seeing members plugged into ministry and his desire is that the Lord will continue to use his gifts of administration, teaching and leadership to strengthen His church. Prior to coming to East Pickens he served as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church-East Flat Rock, NC for 3-1/2 years, and prior to that, he served as the Minister of Education & Youth at Overbrook Baptist Church in Greenville, SC for 8-1/2 years. He also has four years of experience serving as Minister of Youth & activities at two other churches (1995-1999). Allen received a Bachelor of Science Degree/Church Recreation from Mars Hill College in 1991 and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southern Seminary in 1993. He is married to Carey Alexander Sherwood, who was raised at EPBC. Allen & Carey have three children: Campbell, Gatlin,and Macrae.
Nick oversees the Student Ministries and Celebrate Recovery Ministry at East Pickens. He has been serving the Lord through youth ministry since 2005. He began in the ministry as a part time youth pastor and was later called into full time service. He has been serving full time as an Associate Pastor of Students since 2010. His passion is to see children and teenagers come to the transforming knowledge of Christ as their savior. As a student pastor, God has placed a burden on his heart for the students of today to fulfill the Great Commission as they engage the world around them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nick is married to his high school sweetheart, Katie. They have three beautiful little girls, Adalyn, Gracyn, and Chloe. Their youngest is a son named Declan. Nick enjoys working with his hands, hunting, fishing, playing ball, laughing with friends, coffee, and spending time with his family.
Brent oversees discipleship “from the cradle to the grave” at EPBC, overseeing our children’s ministries and adult discipleship ministries. He previously served as the Pastor to Youth and Children at Trinity Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA for 3-1/2 years. He also served as the Residence Life Coordinator at Carson Newman University for 2 years. Prior to that time, Brent served in various ministries during his college and seminary years in various youth camps and youth ministries. Brent received his Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries from Shorter College in 2007. In 2012 he graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Christian Education. Brent is married to Kate Stewart and they have one daughter, Cora. Brent’s passion is to see every person in every stage of life involved in being discipled and discipling others.
Sandi Tinsley joined the church staff on January 11, 1982. She serves as the secretary to the ministerial staff. She is also responsible for overseeing the publication of the worship folder, the newsletter, and our guest and membership data. Sandi and her husband, Steve, have been married for 32 years. They are members of Antioch Baptist Church in the Sunset community of Pickens. At her church, Sandi is a member of the church choir, serves as a Preschool Sunday School teacher, the assistant organist, and helps with Vacation Bible School. They have two children: Travis, and his wife, Shelley, who live in Angier, North Carolina, and a daughter, Brittani, and her husband Eric, who live in Pickens, SC.
Jenny Owens joined the church staff in September of 1997. She has her Associate Degree in Accounting. She works with the church treasurer, staff, finance team, and Missions Director in taking care of contributions, accounts payable, mission funds, building funds, and payroll needs of the church. Jenny has lived in Pickens all her life. She and her husband, David, were married on April 8, 1978. They have two sons, Jeremy and Justin. She has been a member of East Pickens for 40+ years. Jenny also serves on the Hostess Team and in the nursery. She has previously served as Sunday school teacher in the preschool, children and youth ministries.
